Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge has impeccable taste when it comes to jewellery. Every time the future queen is spotted in public, she’s snapped teaming a stylish ensemble with stunning, sparkling jewels. From glittering bejewelled tiaras to dazzling drop-down earrings, it seems Kate’s jewellery collection has no end. And many of the priceless royal heirlooms Kate has been photographed in have been borrowed or gifted to her by members of the royal family. 1. Celebration Rings

Kate’s best-known jewellery piece is her 14-solitaire diamond and 12-carat oval blue Ceylon sapphire engagement ring, set in 18-karat white gold. The unique sparkler is an oval, royal-blue sapphire. It was presented to Kate in 2010 when Prince William proposed to her. The impressive rock was chosen by Kate’s late mother-in-law, Princess Diana after Prince Charles proposed in 1981. It was selected from the official royal jeweller, Garrard of Mayfair. Bestowing the ring to Kate was William’s touching way of ensuring that his beloved mother wouldn’t miss out on the couple’s exciting news. Kate wears her traditional gold wedding band beside her engagement ring. Next to it sits a diamond eternity band gifted to her from Prince William following the birth of the couple’s first son, Prince George. Here the Duchess gives a subtle nod to the popular ring stacking trend.

2. Twinkling Tiaras

The Duchess of Cambridge has been lucky enough to attend high-profile events worthy of wearing royal tiaras. In 2015, Kate had the honour of sporting the Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara, also worn by the late Princess Diana. Encrusted with sparkling diamonds and glimmering pearls, the tiara was created for Queen Mary by Garrard of Mayfair in 1914. Today, it remains in Queen Elizabeth’s II personal collection. In 2016, Duchess Kate wore the sparkling headpiece once again at the Diplomatic Reception held at Buckingham Palace. Kate has also stepped out in the Lotus Flower tiara at several official events held at Buckingham Palace. A wedding gift to the Queen Mother in 1923 as a necklace, it was reworked into a dazzling headpiece. Then, it was given to Princess Margaret before she passed. Kate’s most renowned royal headpiece is her famous Cartier halo tiara. The remarkable piece completes with 739 dazzling diamonds and 149 baton diamonds. It finished Kate’s bridal look on her wedding day in 2011. Presented to the Queen Mother by King George VI, it was passed to Queen Elizabeth II on her 18th birthday. The precious royal creation was also borrowed by Princess Margaret for a coronation and has been worn by Princess Anne.

3. Pretty Pearls

A royal jewellery box isn’t complete without pearls, and the Duchess is a huge fan of the classic look.

One pair of earrings worn by Kate Middleton are her all-time favourites - her pearl-drops. The Duchess wears them to glam up special engagements but also wears them day-to-day such as on laid-back shopping trips. She even wore them shortly after giving birth to Princess Charlotte!

In November 2017, Kate was also spotted donning a four-strand pearl choker necklace at Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s 70th-anniversary party at Windsor Castle. The pretty piece features a central diamond clasp and was created using a collection of pearls gifted to Queen Elizabeth by the Japanese government.

It seems Kate shares similar tastes to her late mother-in-law, as the pearls were worn by Princess Diana during the 1980s.

4. Dazzling Drop-down Earrings

Although we’ve mentioned some of Kate’s favourite drop-down earrings, a dedicated section is necessary as the drop-down trend is one of Kate’s much-loved jewellery looks.

A significant pair of Kate Middleton earrings are her oval green amethysts gifted by her husband. This present was in celebration of their first official Christmas together in 2011. Kate then wore the striking pair to the Christmas Day church service.Kate has since worn them over the years to several festive occasions at church.

Another of Kate’s favourite drop-downs is a dazzling pair of diamond and sapphire earrings presented to her by Prince William. The pair were previously owned by his late mother and Kate customised the earrings to suit her tastes into dainty drops. She's since been spotted wearing them during a tour to Canada.

5. Exquisite Necklaces

Kate famously wore a Cartier Trinity necklace to an event before the London Olympics – valued at a whopping £50k. The show-stopping 18-carat chain featured pavé diamonds with three intertwined circles of pink, yellow and white gold. Although not an official Olympic item, the design and shape are said to be a significant nod to the international sporting event.

Another iconic Kate Middleton necklace is the extravagant opulent diamond necklace worn to the Portrait Gala in 2014. The precious piece holds 38 diamonds and was a lavish gift to Queen Elizabeth from Nizam of Hyderabad at her wedding to Prince Philip – now there’s a gift!
