Jewellery has a special meaning to each of us. So that you can keep your treasures looking at their best for years to come, Azuni would like to share with you our top tips...

How do I stop Tangling and Scratching?

We recommend keeping your Azuni Jewellery fastened and placed separately in the soft Azuni pouch it was delivered in. When not using your jewellery for longer periods of time, simply wrap separately in a soft cloth or tissue paper.

How can I prevent tarnishing?

Silver or gold-plated jewellery will eventually tarnish due to oxygen in the air, even if as we suggest keeping your peices in a pouch and in a dark place. The best thing we can advise is to keep your jewellery in a airtight plastic bag to prevent oxygen entering. This way your jewellery will stay looking at its best for years to come.

Avoid swimming or bathing while wearing gold-plated or silver jewellery, and remove rings when washing your hands. Swimming pools that contain chlorine and salt water can tarnish precious metals and gemstones by dulling or eroding them. Hot springs - if your lucky enough to be going to one are a big no no for jewellery as they contain sulphur and your jewellery will turn BLACK !!! Soapy water when bathing and showering can also leave a thin film which makes the metal seem dull.

Avoid using ‘dip’ polish or abrasive jewellery cleaners as these contain harsh chemicals and can destroy your jewellery over time. We also do not recommend the use of any jewellery polishing cloths which have been treated with cleaners or polishing agents. Finally be sure not to spray perfume over your jewellery when getting ready for that big night out! Instead make sure it’s the last thing you put on.

How should i clean my Jewellery?

To maintain the natural colour and shine of silver and gold and to avoid oxidation or tarnishing, gently clean your silver jewellery regularly with a jewellery polishing cloth. Tissue paper or paper towels will cause scratches. We also suggest that you visit a jeweller once a year to have your jewellery cleaned professionally. Should your jewellery darken, try cleaning with a specialist jewellery cloth or with warm, soapy water and a soft toothbrush.

What's the best way to look after Gemstones?

The best single piece of advice we can give you is to wipe your precious stone jewellery with a clean, soft damp cloth after wearing. This little habit will ensure that your jewellery is always looking its best. When your gemstone jewellery is not being worn, we reccomend keeping it the bespoke Azuni pouch it came in.

And by the way..

To keep them your pieces loooking at their best, we really recommend you keeping them in a airtight plastic pouch or zip lock bag. Be mindful when wearing your jewellery...especially long necklaces! Your hand made pieces are delicate and may break if caught on something. Equally be careful wearing your jewellery when looking after babies and toddlers...we should know!
